The ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI) will host a workshop on the 6G Golden Band on 23 September 2026, from 5:00 PM onwards at CSOI, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, New Delhi.
The workshop will focus on the strategic importance of the 6425–8400 MHz band, or appropriate harmonised portions thereof, as a potential 6G Golden Band for future wireless communications.
Identification of a suitable harmonised spectrum range for 6G could help accelerate technology innovation, create economies of scale, improve equipment availability and support seamless international interoperability.
The workshop will bring together senior representatives from the Government, Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Bharat 6G Alliance, industry, research and other key stakeholders to exchange views on India's future 6G spectrum requirements and explore a coordinated approach towards promoting the Golden Band at the regional and global level.
The discussions will also consider the way forward towards WRC-27, including opportunities for India and its industry to contribute to the development of a globally aligned spectrum framework for future 6G services.
Accelerate next-generation wireless technology development.
Enable global harmonisation and larger technology ecosystems.
